NE Food Safey started in 2022 as a way to make ServSafe training and proctoring more accessible to individuals and organizations throughout Northern New England. Founded by Mark Shinners, the classes follow the ServSafe curriculum and are designed to be informative, instructive, and fun. Using Mr. Shinners past history in restaurant settings and his passion for instructing and coaching, it is his utmost desire to help the adult learner reach their maximum potential and retain what they learn and apply their tools to their trade.
Mr. Shinners earned his BA from Brandeis University in Waltham, MA and his MBA from the University of New Hampshire, where he was a Peter Paul Scholar. He is fluent in Spanish and previously lived in Ecuador as an AFS student and in Puerto Rico, where he worked for large British subsidiary of Wolsley, UK. His past roles inside of restaurants include front-of-house and back-of-house roles in various locations including Maine, Puerto Rico and Vermont. Other roles include positions in finance and operations, and sales (domestic and international). However, his favorite role is as husband and father to his two remarkable children.
